We wouldn’t have food, clean water, communication, power, healthcare, or anything else if a business was not providing it.
I know it’s quite a broad sweeping statement but think about it. We wouldn’t have food, clean water, communication, power, healthcare, or anything else if a business was not providing it.
We also talk a really good talk about entrepreneurs being so vital to our future, SMEs being the backbone of the economy and the growth in employment being needed away from governments and corporates; yet the reality is very different.
Business owners and entrepreneurs constantly hear the fantasy about support, funding, opportunities yet what they often face is exactly the opposite. Added to that the vast majority of entrepreneurs still only open businesses where they have a passion or skill to provide a product or service.
Technically they’re proficient but the overall skills to make the business a success is lacking.
Allow me to have a little rant. A great initiative has recently been started where collections are being done for care packages for nurses. These packages include pre-cooked meals, some pampering items, and both support and honour the great work the nurses are doing throughout the pandemic.
Whilst a very noble initiative I’m wondering how and why the nurses have been singled out. The needs out there are much broader than just nurses.
What about care packages for the entrepreneurs who are doing everything in their power to support their clients, keep their staff employed and pay their suppliers whilst they themselves are stressed, overworked, not being paid, undervalued, pulled in all directions and have little certainty as to how they’re going to survive long-term. Nothing against the nurses but perhaps just some perspective as to the plight of entrepreneurs every day - pandemic or not.
Our future depends on businesses ensuring a better tomorrow. We need to find purposeful, and dare I say profitable, ways of solving the world’s challenges. We need people dedicated to both profit and purpose. We need, for-profit businesses that have a social conscience and a strong ubuntu focus. More importantly, we at ActionCOACH need more passionate, purposeful and experienced business coaches to work with those committed entrepreneurs to ensure a better future for us all.
Whilst there is absolutely nothing wrong with running a fast-food burger outlet, I personally can think of nothing worse. No offense to fast-food burger outlets it’s just an example of which there are many.
Fortunately for me I’ve found that in ActionCOACH. Make sure you find your business with purpose so that you too can be a business for a better tomorrow!
If you think you have what it takes to be an ActionCOACH Business Coach make sure you take ACTION and reach out today. We look forward to interacting with you and discussing the business coaching opportunity in more detail.
